Our industrial successes

🔥 Optimization of Combustion & Durability of Refractory Materials
The Challenge: Premature degradation of refractory linings in a hazardous waste incineration rotary kiln led to significant production losses and high recurring maintenance costs.
The Impact: As a refractory materials expert, I co-led an international multidisciplinary task force. We improved material selection, detailed engineering, quality control during installation and drying, as well as daily combustion control.
The Results: A major improvement in asset profitability. Standardizing these best practices reduced procurement costs by 20% and cut breakdown-related downtime losses by 30%, generating a direct financial impact of €2 million per year for the group.

⚡ Turnaround of an Energy Transition Project: Biomass & Cogeneration
The Challenge: Acted as a consulting project engineer for EPC contractor Le Gaz Intégral to get a strategic biomass pyrogasification (animal meal) and power generation plant back on track (ATEMAX in St Langis-Lès-Mortagne, Normandy). The project faced a critical two-year delay due to complex technical obstacles..
The Impact: Audited the entire design and restructured the interface engineering between functional packages to restore operational progress:
- Alignment & System Engineering: Review and validation of the functional analyzes of each package (gasifier, oxidizer, waste heat boiler, flue gas treatment, steam turbine) and development of the overall functional analysis of the plant (PFD, cause and effect matrices, control logic diagrams), coordination of the programming of the DCS system, as well as verification of the conformity of the isometric plans with the process diagrams (P&ID).
- Commissioning & Peformance Test Planning: Designed the full commissioning program, including hydrostatic testing of pressure equipment (boiler, piping), safety loops, refractory dry-out and firing procedures, boil-out and passivation, steam blowing, and performance test.
- Operating Deliverables: Writing global operating manuals (O&M) and updating technical documentation to secure transfer to operating teams.
The Results: Fully resolved interface conflicts and eliminated uncertainties regarding key procedures (clarifying and parallelizing start-up/shut-down sequences). Secured the project timeline toward first fire and provided the end customer with a clear, comprehensive operating model for plant acceptance following commissioning.
